Tracking and accountability in the palm of the hand
Every type of work has its unique set of tools. At GRM, the essential tool for our system is the handheld scanner. The scanner helps us to track the location and movement of everything at GRM or at the clients office; from the person that scanned an item, to the time and date the item was scanned, to the workorder number of the service request.
At the Records Center, our Facility Operations team uses scanners to track the location of items. We are able to tell which person scanned the item, what time it was scanned and what exact location it is in.
While providing service to our clients, every driver is equipped with a scanner as well as a small portable printer. The workorder information is uploaded into the scanner and the driver uses it to scan the barcode on the workorder and the barcodes on items for pickup or delivery.
Printers are a companion to the scanner for service. Each driver is equipped with a small portable printer that will generate a receipt for all items scanned for delivery or pickup.
After each use, the scanner is downloaded into the tracking system making sure that all of the activity and information is captured.
